PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE: 12-17-10 Well another archery season is over and the Christmas Party was again a great way to close it. A BIG thanks goes out to Joan Grinolds, Social Director, and her helpers for a wonderful setting. Joan has held the Social Directors position for about 10 years and has decided to step down. She has set the standard high for anyone who would like to fill the position and is will to help you with details. Call Bobby if you are interested. The main meats and drinks are supplied by Sandune and the members bring a covered dish. This is by far my favorite way to do this because the dishes are great and a good variety. Fantastic desserts and superb fellowshipping. The Christmas Party is our annual meeting for the club so we had to conduct some business. Bobby was pleased with the first part of the year and then it tends to fall off towards the end. We had 7 shoots in 2010 and it put a lot of work on the few Officers and Directors we have in place. So with that being said we have decided to host 4 shoots for 2011 and they are spread out enough so we can catch our breath in-between. I feel like we should host quality shoots instead on quantity. My thought process here that it will also get more members to come help and shoot the tournaments. Financially we stayed in the black and made a little. Our practice butts are getting very old and we should replace them soon, all the large targets butts are over 15 years old!! Socastee High School is willing to make new practice butt frames for us and we supply the material. We all agreed that this was a great opportunity for the youngsters and a big benefit for us. I would like to see if the membership would help us with a target sponsorship of $40.00. We will include a sign on the target with your name as the sponsor of that target. We have a lot of members that would like to help and just can’t find the time or may not be able to for one reason or another and with this maybe it would be a way to contribute to making us the archery club to shoot at. Election for 2011-2012. We have retained Janice Helms as our Treasurer and she has done a spectacular job for us. Tiffany Dixon is our new Secretary and by her coming on board we should flow a lot better with business matters. Her husband, Shawn Dixon has volunteered to maintain our website; he will be a great asset for us to communicate with you and the public via the web. I am very happy to see these folks donate their time to the club. We still have the Vise-President and Social Director offices open. If anyone would like to fill these positions please call me and let’s talk. These Officers and Directors are the reasons we are successful along with some dedicated members. There is always a way you can contribute. Awards we passed out with many of our shooters grabbing 1st, 2nd and 3rd throughout the year, several members even claimed Championships. GREAT shooting!! Dan Grinolds was honored with a plaque for his services and many, many contributions to the club as President for over 10 years. Just about, no I mean, everything you see at the club Dan had his hands in. Dan is the glue that has kept us in the game and with his magic has kept us at the top. Give Dan a big round of applause and a thank you. Dan and Joan are still going to be active in the club and we are proud of them and privilege to have the in our club. Gifts went out to the children and any gifts that were left over went to Toys for Tots. The party concludes with the raffling of gifts brought in by members and as always a great way to end the party. I pray that the Lord blesses each and every one of you and our troops for the days to come. Don’t be strangers come to a meeting or a work party and even a shoot. Remember the club is you and without you there is no club. See you at the club Bobby Flores President, Sandune Archery Club |
Message from Dan Grinolds: 12-17-10
For you folks who could not make party on Saturday, you missed a good time. Food was great, again, and good company, and visits where had by all. Some old faces and some new faces, it was great to see them all. The Christmas party has always been a great time, and I hope it continues for years to come. On a personal note, I would like to Thank all of you, especially Bobby, for the great plaque and kind words. It was a pleasure to serve the club for over 10 years, and to have you recognize the that in the way you did, was special. And it was it apparent that came from the heart of the club. I want to say Thanks again and it’s nice to belong to such a great group. |

BOBBY FLORES'S INITIAL MESSAGE AS CLUB PRESIDENT I would like to Thank all the members that supported us in 2009 and I’m really looking forward to leading the club to being the BEST archery club to visit, shoot at and be a member of. I would like to Thank Dan Grinolds for his outstanding services and dedication of his time that he has given to Sandune Archery Club as President. THANK YOU! Welcome to our website and we hope that you will come and visit with us. For our visitors from out of town, we would love for you to bring your bow and enjoy the range. Maybe even participate in one of our events. As we proceed into the year 2010 I pray that the Lord blesses you and your families. We live in a great country and it is because of our fore fathers that asked Him to bless this country Genuine Kindness goes a long way and for some reason there is a lot of artificial kindness going around in the country, whether it’s for personnel gratification or being politically correct, I am not sure. But the reason I have mention this because in this sport of archery you will meet people that are genuine. I have shot at a lot of events in the South Eastern region of the USA and for some reason archers seem to stand out with their kind gestures and willingness to help. I have found that the competiveness level is just as strong as any other sport, but we, archers, tend to help our competitors improve on their game, even in competition and against you. Archers don’t seem to think of themselves much when they see that someone is struggling or their having equipment problems. I have seen and been on the down side at a National event in Virginia and my bow broke. An archer that I had just met TOLD me to go set up his spare bow and shoot the tournament. I ask if he wanted me to leave him some money or something and he seemed to be puzzled that I would offer such a thing. He said to me “set it up, have a great shoot, you know where my truck is at.” I did have a wonderful time and my weekend was saved by an archer that saw someone disappointed and without any reservation came to help out. I hope I have returned that favor to other archers and that those archers will do the same. Archers are great people, not that everyone else is bad, it just seems that as a whole it is GENUINE KINDNESS and I hope that it continues to grow. So come on out to the range and have fun. Don’t know how to get started; we can help put you on target to having fun and meeting terrific folks. Everybody has to start the beginning and you go as far as you want to, shoot for your own wellbeing and be as competitive as you want, it’s all up to you. Oh I forgot to mention Archer love to have fun and a sense of humor goes along way as they WILL bust your chops at times.Let’s go shoot a round. Bobby Flores President, Sandune Archery Club |
