WORK DAY RESULTS
Saturday, January 5th--What a great turn out!!!!! 23 that’s right 23 members showed up and in about 2 hours we had the 45 lanes groomed, carpet and trash hauled off, registration trailer organized, made picnic tables and grass cut. We dragged out 6 - 3D targets and had a mini shoot in the practice field and that just seemed to cap the day. 2008 MEMBERSHIP
It is that time of year to renew your membership. Click here to download our membership application. STATE TOURNAMENTS
The weekend of January 12th & 13th there was a tournament at Cedar Creek Archery club near Andrews and Sandunes’ had 8 shooters participate. Ray Rahner - 1st place - Cubs Lefty Bottone – 1st place – Traditional Jerry Williams – 2nd place – State Traditional Scott Rahner - 3rd place – Open CLUB MEETING
We need to check our centers on the 3D targets and spares to see if there are any that need replacing or if we need any replacement centers. Discussed shoot fees and discount for Sandune Archery Club members in good standing. Looks like members will receive a $5.00 discount on entry fee. MEETING PLACE
We have a new place to hold our meetings and it seems to be in a centralized area to hopefully draw more members to the meetings. Tanya Jackson the principle of Cathedral Hall Academy has offered us the use of their cafeteria to hold our meetings. This is the same place that we held the Christmas party. Thank you Tanya!!! SPONSOR A LANE
As most of you know we are hosting the NFAA Southeastern 3D Marked Sectional Championship in April along with our Sandune Open Invitational. In an effort to raise monies to have door prizes for the shoot we would like to have our lanes sponsored. We want to offer Sandune families a chance to sponsor a lane or two that would support our vision of hosting a great tournament. Sponsoring a lane will be $30.00 per lane with a portion of that for a plaque that will be place on the bow racks at each lane. A business sponsorship will be $75.00 and a plaque will also be displayed on the lane. The plaque will read: Sandune Archery Club is Proud to have
Your name and Family or Business sponsor this lane 2008 This sponsorship is a show of support for what we are doing here at Sandune Archery Club and that is to be the archery club that archers will want to come back and shoot at. I challenge each and every one of our members to go out and see if you can get any type of donations, discounts on items to buy with donated or sponsorship monies, gifts or things that will make this tournament one that visiting archers will remember. Sandune Archery Club, South Carolina and the NFAA/SCAA is really in need of a big turn out of archers and what better place to see that happen than at Sandune Archery Club and the Beach. Please email us (sandunearchery@gmail.com) with any questions or suggestions. We will post an online form soon. SCAA News
Bobby Flores, our Tournament Director has been voted in as the Vice-President of the SCAA. HELP US !!!
Please help us to keep our range and practice area clean. We have trash cans in the area. If you bring targets to shoot, take them with you, pick up shredded pieces and put it in the trash can. Cardboard or paper targets don't need to be left out to litter the practice range as they become wet and start to come to pieces and cigarette butts should NOT be thrown on the ground. Lets take pride and care of our range. SALE and/or TRADE
Do you have any used archery equipment or bows that you would like to sell or donate to the club, let us know. With new members and people wanting to give archery a try it would be nice if they could start out with some equipment that would be cost effective to them. PRACTICE RANGE WISH LIST
We would like to have a sidewalk style and size shooting line on our practice range to upgrade our range. We had Palmetto Paving come and give us an estimate of a 5' wide x 125' long path. This was a lay on top 4"s thick with remill (free stuff). Just something to stand on no vehicle traffic. Their price was $1300.00. This is WAY out of our budget. If you know of anyone or have an idea on how we can have a nice shooting line that won't break the bank, send us an email: sandunarchery@gmail.com TRADITIONAL SHOOTERS
Do you like to shoot Traditional style? Well John Hammond a member of our club has asked if we could have a Traditional style shooting group as part of Sandune Archery Club. This sounds like a great way to expand our mission of promoting archery in our community. The details and a discussion need to be put in place, so that we can get this started. Call John @ 340-4402 and talk to him on what he has in mind and we will schedule a meeting to implement this shooting group. |
